I would suggest downloading your pictures to a folder on your hard drive,
not to a folder within any program. That way if you change programs you
don't have to worry about losing the pictures since they are on  your
computer, not within the program.

Picasa simply searches all the folders on your hard drive for file formats
associated with pictures (jpeg, gif, bitmap, etc). and copies the pics to
its database. Notice I said it COPIES the pics, not MOVES them.  The pics
Picassa stores will also be in the folder you originally had them in.
