Subject: [ROOTS-L] Immigrating through Passiac, NJ
Sender: roots-in@roots-l.rootsweb.com

Some of my relatives (Anders Magnus Karlsson and family) immigrated from
Sweden to the U.S. at the port of Passiac, NJ in the late 1800s. As I go
through the Ancestry.com resources, I've noticed they don't even list
Passiac as a possible port of entry. Does anyone have any information about
this?

I would guess that the phrase ".furloughed at indulginia" should have
said..  "furloughed in Virginia."

Subject: Civil war information for Aquilla M Farrer

My 2nd great grandfather Aquilla M. Farrer fought for the south during the
civil war, Records show that he was furloughed at Indulginia. I don't find
an Indulginia on a Virginia map. Does anyone have an idea where it was?
Below is the civil war information I have for Aquilla.

Aquilla Farrer enlisted on 1 Oct 1861 at Augusta GA in the 38th Georgia
Infantry, Company G, also known as the Jefferson County "Battey Guards."
Aquilla saw military action at the following times & dates: Gaine's Mill
June 27, 1862; Malvern Hill July 1, 1862; Cedar Mountain, August 9, 1862;
Rappahannock Station, August 23, 1862; Second Manassas, August 28-30, 1862;
Chantilly, September 1, 1862; Harper's Ferry, Sept. 12 - 15, 1862;
Sharpsburg, September 17, 1862 were he was wounded; Botler's Ford Sept. 19,
1862 and Fredericksburg December 13, 1862. He was furloughed from February
19 to March 13, 1863 at Indulginia. He fought again at: Chancellorsville,
May 1-4 1863; at the 2nd Winchester on June 14 - 15, 1863; and Gettysburg
July 1-3, 1863. He was wounded in the hip during the first day of fighting
at Gettysburg and captured during the retreat at South Mountain MD on July
5.
