If a Massachusetts man was a soldier in 1676 (presumably in a militia), can we assume that he was within a certain age range at the time? Walter HICKSON of Hatfield, Mass., was a soldier in Turner's company in April 1676. In 1679 he married Sarah White Taylor Hinsdale, who had been widowed twice. She was 16 in March 1657/8 so she was born about 1642. I'm hoping to narrow down Walter's age a bit. Wondering if he could be old enough to have a child born about 1660 (by a previous marriage, although I haven't found one). The child in question is my ancestor Richard Hixson (spelling was flexible then), who was apparently dropped from an alien spaceship just in time for his marriage in 1686 in Milton, Mass., to Margaret Watkins.
