When I need county information, including timelines of county breakdowns, I
google it. For example, Luzerne County PA + History. The fourth or fifth
result down gave me what I needed as to when it became its own county and
from what county it broke off from.

To determine the best keywords to use in a search, create a sentence that
identifies what you want to know, then use the subject and object (sometimes
verb) of that sentence as your keywords. For example, my search question
for the above was What is the history of Luzerne County PA? The subject and
object of this statement are histosry and Luzerne County PA and those become
my keywords for my search.
