Subject: [ROOTS-L] Re: What is the meaning.(S.Plummer)
Sender: roots-in@roots-l.rootsweb.com

Another viewpoint from my daughter who has taught German Language for
many years:

juanita

"I don't believe the guesses below are correct. I still think there
is something wrong with the way the word has been transliterated.
Another possibility I thought of would be the interchanging of
"Engel" with "Enkel" (could be pronunciation and/or orthography
interference).
"Enkel" means grandson. Reading the old script is tricky. It's
quite easy to confuse "i", "e", "n", "m", "u", "r". They all have
very similar strokes, especially in certain people's handwriting. S.
Plummer mentioned that although Harmon Moyer was Lutheran he was
buried in a family plot. Perhaps he was buried there because of his
"rights" as a grandson."
