I'd presume if people, years ago, had funerals conducted in their
homes, there may not have been a burial in a formal cemetery as such.
Many were buried on sections of farm land set aside for a graveyard.
I'd suggest you look in the court house for the Deed to land of the
person you're interested in and then get the description of it to see
if there's a statement about a portion of the farm being set aside
for the purpose of a graveyard.

Check for the county where the people lived you're interest in and
ask at the State House for the General Highway Department of
Transportation map. I don't know which state you're wanting but a
long time ago I wrote to the capital of Kansas at Topeka and bought
maps for all 105 counties in the state. At that time (20 yrs or more
ago) they were only 10 cts. ea. I know they've gone up considerably
in price. They have a lot of detail - showing rural school houses,
farms, cemeteries including those abandoned on farmland, power lines,
highways, roadways etc. They come in several size maps. Ours are
1/2" equals 1 square mile. They're great when you're trying to
locate places that are not on a regular highway map. These are
available thru the Departments of Transportation at the State
capital. I did the same thing for the states of Iowa and Missouri.
