Subject: [ROOTS-L] Grave stone need to go home!

In today's New London Day (Connecticut) newspaper there is a article about a
grave stone found two years ago in East Lime Connecticut by construction
workers building the Niantic Bay Boardwalk. There does not seem to be a grave in
the area so the stone was probable taken from some cemetery and dropped
there. The headstone is missing a corner. The white marble stone has the name
Carrie E. Pre-----(the rest of the name is missing). The letter after the Pre
has a straight side such as a N would so the name could be Prentis. Judging
from the position of the name on the stone the family name prop. has approx. 7
or 8 letters. The dates on the stone are 1846 - 1914 On the top of the stone
the is the word "Mother" under which small bouquet of flowers chiseled into
the stone. There is no proof that this person ever lived in Connecticut.

It sure would be great if we could send this headstone back to the grave
from which it came! Anyone got any ideas how to fine Carrie?

John
