Subject: [ROOTS-L] Need 1920 Census help -Edward Reckentin

Hello Listers,

I am trying to find my great Uncle Edward Reckentin in the 1920 Census. I
do have Ancestry, and the other day I searched 1500 names in the index.
Does anyone else have access to another data base where they might find
the record? The reason I am interested in the 1920 Census is that I have
read that immigrants of Germany may have been asked for a town or other
regional name by the census taker. I don't know what part of Germany
(Prussia) the family came from.

The story my father told me a number of years ago was that, Uncle Edward,
apparently unmarried, was living in Little Rock, AR. On a cattle buying
trip he was found murdered in Bloomington, IL. I did find his name in the
Illinois Statewide Death Index, in Bloomington, IL. Aug. 15, 1926.

Edward Reckentin was born about 1865, and arrived with his parents in
NewYork, on ship Deutschland, from Homburg, on 22 May, 1866. He is listed
on the passenger list as being 9 months old. Census records for the
family verify his approximate date of birth. I have not found him in any
Census records as an adult. He was possibly living in Arkansas in 1920.

Any help in locating Edward in the 1920 census is greatly appreciated'

Dian
