I'm a new member who's been "observing" for the last few weeks. This is my first post, so here we go. I am researching my mother's family and have hit a wall with my gr-gr-gr-grandfather, Anderson David Fowler, born circa 1820 in Alabama to Baxter Fowler and his first (unknown) wife. Anderson married Lauriet Schrimsher (there are various spellings of both her first and last names) in Marshall County, Alabama on 20 March 1844. Lauriet and Anderson are found in Muddy Bayou, Arkansas on the 1850 census. In neighboring homes are two Schrimsher males (Lauriet's brothers) with a 70-year-old woman named "Jane." I suspect (but cannot prove) that this is Lauriet's mother. Additional research suggests that Lauriet's father might have been James Schrimsher, also of Alabama. Family history says that Anderson and Lauriet moved to Indian Territory in 1856 and died there. However, their oldest son shows up in Arkansas later than that. Any of this ring any bells with anyone? As for Anderson, I know his father was Baxter (also spelled Bakster) Fowler. Baxter eventually married Charity Daughtery, but I have no information on Baxter's first wife.
