Subject: [ROOTS-L] Reply to individual, list or both>
Sender: roots-in@roots-l.rootsweb.com

    Generally most of us post both to the poster and the list. Exceptions
could include:

1) we know the user has blocks on for private email or asks for list or
private response only

2) the subject is personal or informal, and may not likely apply to many
people, and probably does not need to go to 8 or 10 thousand people

3) perhaps we simply hit the wrong key and chose only to send to one of the
three options when our intent was something different.

    I guess one should appreciate a response and not spend too much time
thinking about the motive of the person who responds <g> Most of us are not
always consistent.

    I guess we could also ask why more of us do not use descriptive subject
lines or why we don't always express ourselves clearly enough so that others
can understand what we want and help. There probably is not one of us who
could not learn to post better queries.
