Subject: [ROOTS-L] New Alexandria, Va. Reserach Aids

New Items from Wesley E. Pippenger! Mr. Pippenger now has available two
important publications about the Alexandria, Va. area. The first is
Marriage and Death Notices from Alexandria, Virginia Newspapers, Volume 1:
1784-1838, and Volume 2, 1838-1852. It is a 2-volume set, cloth binding,
comprised of nearly 1,300 pages of data and a comprensive index for notices
from 20 different newspapers that were published in Alexandria during the
period. Notices cover events that occurred up and down the eastern
seaboard, and frequently include events in Richmond, Baltimore,
Philadelphia, and New York.

Second, Mr. Pippenger's work in Alexandria's cemeteries is now
complete with issue of Tombstone Inscriptions of Alexandria, Virginia
(Volume 5), covering Alexandria National (Soldier's) Cemetery,
St. Mary's Catholic Church Cemetery, and St. Paul's Episcopal Church
Cemetery, along with an addendum to previous volumes. The strength in
this perfect-bound volume is new early 19th century data, provided
from St. Mary's Catholic Church, that documents the death of two
additional Revolutionary War soldiers.
