I was a Methodist but sometimes went to a Catholic
church with my best friend. I loved the idea of
Communion but was told I didn't "qualify" because I
wasn't Catholic.

When I grew up, I became an Episcopalian (aka
"Catholic lite") and we have Communion in church.

Hmmm. (By using the designation Catholic, I assume
that is what you mean).
