Subject: [ROOTS-L] Mass cards

Thanks to everyone who responded with explanations as to what a Mass Card
is. Not being Catholic, I was not familiar with them.

There were 3 different explanations, but I understand the reasoning and
purpose behind each.
One being the presentation of the name and information to the priest to
request a deceased person be remembered in a Mass.
The second a card sent to the family of the deceased telling them that a
Mass was requested for their loved one.
Third - what we call Funeral Cards or Remembrance Cards. Usually given to
funeral or visitation attendees with a prayer or verse, as well as
information about the deceased, the immediate family, the pall-bearers, the location
and time of the service, and the place of burial.

It is interesting that there are 3 different meanings/traditions/responses,
but it was truly helpful information and I appreciate those who took the time
and shared.
