Subject: [ROOTS-L] Grandpa's Girl Comes Home

  Grandpa¡¯s Girl Comes Home

Grandpa¡¯s Girl MICHELLE BALSLEY comes home over the MARTIN LUTHER KING HOLIDAY¡¯S to visit family. And of course a home coming visit to Lawton, Oklahoma would not be a visit with out coming to the Lawton/Fort Sill Veterans Center to see her Grandfather PAUL ODLE. Michelle and her husband John live in Virginia just out side Washington D.C. My Granddaughter was more beautiful than I had remembered. We had a fun visit catching up with each others news. I took her for a tour of the VA CENTER.

I am on day eleven of my diet and I have lost 16 #. I have not weighed for two days. For breakfast I have been eating one box of one serving box cereal, one small carton of fat free milk, one pink thing sweetener, one fresh orange, and a cup of coffee. Our Kitchen ran out of Oranges Friday January 13, 2006 and ran out of Milk Saturday January 14, 2006 there will be no more until the truck comes in Tuesday January 17, 2006. I started my diet January 5, 2006. I was told the reason for being out of so much food was be cause the ¡°POWERS THAT BE,¡± had cut the budget. I was ask by one of the members of the medical staff to try to lose some weight. I just get going good on my diet and the budget gets cut and we do not have any fresh oranges or milk until Tuesday. There is no point in the cooks cooking ¡°Hot cereal ¡° if we are out of milk.

The Lunch and Dinner meal tray is prepared for us fat folks and us diebetic. The Dietition fills our plate. The meals are usually very good. However there is nothing diabetic about those meals. I remove all hot rolls, bread, sugar free deserts from my tray. I remove anything white that is on my tray. Then I take the meat and Vegetables and divide them in half. I only eat half of the food on my plate. I wish the kitchen would stop putting white things on my plate like, breads, noodles, macoroni ,and rice.

I wish the Kitchen would cook more green, yellow and orange vegetables. Let us have more cabbage, Caulaflower, Brocoli, fresh Spinish, fresh cooked carrots, Asparagus, yellow and green Squash, okra, blackeyed peas, green pea¡¯s, and Green beans.

When it comes to food items and medical care items I hope our wise leaders will re-think their budget. I have faith that when the ¡°POWERS THAT BE¡± re-think this budget cut that they will do the right thing. It is very difficult for fat folks to go on a diet in the first place. And we need a lot of TLC and care. Fat Folks like to think everyone is fatter than they are ¡°WELL HELLO! Go look in the mirrow you do not look like ¡°TWIGGY¡± Get Real! Join me in my diet. The Kitchen needs to cut back on starches. I known Thin people who came here to live or work and it was not long before they were three axe handles across the rear.

I would like a prayer request for an old friend of mine KATHYRN CALLAS WILSON in ENID, OKLAHOMA and I would ask all people reading this to put KATHRYN WILSON on their Churches prayer board no matter what your faith is. This lady has had two very painful operations and she still is in a lot of pain and discomford. Kathern is a member of the FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH in Enid, OKLAHOMA. The JESSE FRANK ODLE family in Charleston, South Carolina needs your prayers over the resent passing of JESSE. And please do not forget our troops over sea¡¯s they need lots of prayers for their safety.

CARL and WILLIE HOGUE of the CAMERON BAPTIST CHURCH told me that they will be starting a new BIBLE STUDY at 2 P.M. sometime in February 2006. It will be held in the HARDY STONE AUDITORIUM of the LAWTON/FORT SILL VETERANS CENTER in LAWTON, OKLAHOMA.
