Subject: [ROOTS-L] Rev Alexander Ewing - ca1725-?

Family history has been that the progenitor of my Ewing family in
America came to America in 1755 with his regiment under the command of
General Braddock bringing his young family with him (including sons
Alexander and James). His regiment was horribly beaten at Fort du
Quesne. He was an Adjutant officer (minister) and after this horrible
defeat by the French and Indians, he removed his sword, buried the dead
and vowed never to put the sword on again. He received his discharge
and remained in the colonies. He had married a Miss Sullivan while
his regiment had been stationed in Ireland before coming to the
Colonies. His eldest son was named Alexander and every generation after
had an Alexander as well as the name Sullivan being given as a middle
name to a son in every generation through 1900. I can not find out
about the life of Alexander after discharge from the British Army nor
about Miss Sullivan - These are my 5G Grandparents. Is there help out
there?
