Hopefully, they will do the same as we do here in Houston and can provide the lookup for you free. BUT, if you have only a year you can't expect them to look at a whole year's worth of obits .... Have you tired for the exact date of death through the Social Security Index or by use of the Texas Death Index on microfilm? The genealogy department of the Dallas library would have that Texas Death Index - so hopefully an e-mail could bring about a search 1) TDI and 2) obit.
