Subject: [ROOTS-L] THROM /THROME families in MD and PA

Hi all,
Just hoping to learn more about the Scotch Celtic
name of THROM. What does it mean? Is it an
occupational name? Maybe even the sound of drums on
the hill? THROME is probably a variation of such. My
THRON roots are taking me to PA and MD THROM and
THROME families. I have found a deed referencing the
orig. 1809 patent of land in Germany Township, now
Union Township, was given to John H. Trone Esq.--its
ref. is in the index for the patents by Hinkey,
Joan=== his name is spelled John THROME. John Trone
born 1765's great grandson Cyrus THROM's wedding
announcement of 1859 gives more credence to this
spelling. Cyrus's paternal family living on this land.
Hoping to reach someone who is connected to this
branch. It probably will lead to Baltimore. One
written history source says that John THRAHN/TRONE
born 1765 had a father who was of Scotch descent but
from Germany. Glad to hear from any branch of the
THROM or THROME clan! Is it true that it is of the
clan MACTAVISH , under the tartan of CAMPBELL of
ARGYLE in Scotland?
  Laura (TRONE) Dague

Sincerely,
  Laura:)
