Subject: [ROOTS-L] 1890 vet census records

Does the 1890 veteran census schedules
list confederate soldiers? I went to the Civil
War site but if that information is there, I can't
find it.
I have an ancestor who fought for the south from
Alabama or Miss. I have a copy of his military
records. It lists him as being at the battle of
Vicksburg. Then it lists him as hospitalized.
Our side of the family said he lost an arm at
Vicksburg. Several of those repeating the
story remembered him. He died in 1906,
the relatives were children but old enough
to remember.
In the last week a newly found descendent,
of his, sent a picture of him and his wife
taken ca 1900. It certainly looks like he has
two arms. The military records do not list
his wounds. Since he was a confederate soldier,
he probably didn't get a pension. Some of
the Alabama soldiers did get one but he is not
on the list. My last hope is if he was on the 1890
vet schedules, I know they listed what type of
sickness or wounds.
Our joint feeling is that his arm was damaged
and useless but not taken off.

Thanks for any input,
J Bletcher
