Subject: [ROOTS-L] When I started

I really wasn't interested in genealogy until I wanted to join the UDC and DAR.  That was about three years ago at age 64.  I started with my g-grandfather who was a War Between the States Veteran and took off from there.  I find myself wanting to know something about everyone of my ancestors. I have a cousin four times removed in Durham, NC who  has been a tremendous help, getting me info and documents that I need. She's been doing genealogy for yesrs.   I do get to the Raleigh/Durham area about once a year and I'm with my sister and my cousin digging through documents, visiting libraries and going to cemeteries.  We met on line through another cousin and I have met more cousins on line from all sides, all who are willing to provide info to me because I started so late. I'm so thankful for all of them.
