Solomon and Elias Y. are brothers, born 1817 and 1813, respectively, in Washington County, MD. Solomon, wife Sophia (Thomas) and family all immigrated to Saline County, Kansas in 1871, 1872 and 1873. One granddaughter, Fanny, was left in Maryland where she was raised by her Houser grandparents (her mother and two brothers had died and are buried there). Elias Y. and a cousin, Elias W. both married Watson sisters and moved to Carroll County, Illinois in 1846. According to the census, the parents of these men were born in Maryland. Does anyone on the List know who might be the parents of these men and whether John (A.?) is connected? Or how to go about finding info? We have tried for decades to find out. (We were not smart enough to ask our grandfather who would have told us as his stories about his childhood during the Civil War were wonderful.) emschmidt@cableone.net
