Subject: [ROOTS-L] Re: ROOTS-L how old were you?

Until a few years ago, I really was only mildly interested in who I came from.... I knew that some of my brothers and cousins were interested in family genealogy...but since was unable to go to most family functions, I didn't realize the extent of their studies....

I had a long list of things I was going to do "when I had the time", after I retired. My heart decided on my retirement a little before I had planned.... and unable to do many of those things on my list.... one big ting on thr list was a computer....up until this time I had very little to do with computers, I just knew that I was one of those born to be a computer nerd..... I also knew that if I didn't buy one right away, I prpbably wouldn't...so I bought the whole set up, pc, printer, scanner...and started out learning how to use Windows 98.... then on to the internet...

One of my brothers brought me the material he had on our family tree and suggested that since I had more time than he did, maybe I'd like to see if I could find more.....you all know what happened then..I was hooked, but good... not only was I hooked on the family histories, but I found a new interest in history in general...I had thoroughly dislike history in school and I most certainly didn't like to read about and learn anything about wars.....

Well that's all changed...I am now less than 2 months away from turning 68...and I'm reading history books and watching the history channel and finding where my families were through census images and land grants and war rosters.... and never quite able to find everything I want to find...

My only comcern is whether anyone in my family will be interested in all that information when I am gone... so far, I havn't come up with a solution but it doesn't stop me from searching and sorting and rejoicing when I find another link to add something to my family tree... I am hooked and I don't want to be cured..grin...
