Subject: [ROOTS-L] Re: How old

How old? I suppose in my fifties. However - I came from a large family and we
always had reunions. When my parents life changed - with death and disability
- one dying and one having to leave the home - I found things - references to
the family that someone had done. My great-grandfather's name was Sanders
Perfect Day. I found that out and I wondered - did his mother think he was a
'perfect day'? After awhile it occurred to me - it was probably a surname. Indeed
I found out it was - even found a preacher in early 1800s in KY that was named
Perfect. I began to find things. Always interested in history - they don't
write stories about my ancestors but when you study history - you get an idea of
what it was like for those that came before you. Well, a few of the
collaterals did make a little history - in the late 1800s in Missouri - like - the Day
gang. And my aunt found a photo in her attic - labeled the James Brothers. I
sent it to a man who was supposed to know and he said it wasn't either of the
famous James brothers. My husband's family was easy to research - people had
done so much before me and kept good records. What a search - interesting - for
instance - in hubby's family - in the Revolutionary war - one was a
revolutionary - one was a Tory - one was a Hessian. The father of the revolutionary -
was reportedly a friend of Daniel Boone. Studied quite a bit of Daniel Boone
because he was in so many of the places that our ancestors were - KY - NC - PA -
MO. The county in Missouri my grandfathers went to was named after Daniel's
grandson - James Callaway.
