I had planed to phone her husband Kenneth Owens at their home in Edmond last night, but I forgot. I could not help but notice a new star brighter than the rest shining down on earth. I should have known that bright pretty star was our beautiful Rue Donna smiling down on Kenneth, Brenda, Skipper and her three grandchildren she loved so much. The new bright shining star was smiling down to tell every one that I am OK now, I am happy and I well continue to watch over you until we meet again in Heaven. Our old friend JIM MCDANIELS called me this morning from Oregon and my friend JACK PRYBL from San Antonio, Texas called to tell me about RUE DONNA. Rue Donna Jacobsen was 9 years old and a 4th grader when I first met her. The year was 1944 or 1945. It was right after I moved with my parents from Los Angeles back to my hometown of Yukon, Oklahoma. Besides going to school together we went to the First Baptist Church together Mrs. Carl Cone was our Sunday School Teacher and Glen and Zella Faye McKinney were our BYPU Baptist Young People Union leaders. Some of the members of our Sunday School Class were: La Veta Williams, Carlene Cone, Shirley Line, Harriet Sue Anderson, Mike Pugh, Jim McDaniel¡¯s, and Bobby Wagner. I have probably forgotten some ones name. Most of these people have been lifetime friends of Rue Donna and I. All of the years that I lived in Yukon, Oklahoma my old pal Rue Donna Owens and I would go out to lunch once a month. Some times our good friends Fenton Ramey, La Veta Williams and Carlene Cone would join us. I could always count on Rue Donna to be at all my family funerals. Every five years at the Alumni Banquet Ken Owens would tell me I was going to take Rue Donna. Kenneth grew up in Bethany. He always said Rue Donna would have a better time at her class reunion, if he didn¡¯t go. All our friends loved Rue Donna in 1944 when she was growing up around the mill and in 2006 they still love her. I will miss my old buddy Rue Donna and I shall always celebrate her life. I have many fond memories of both the Rue Donna Jacobsen that went with our old gang to base ball games on the south side of the Yukon Best Flour Mills and went to dances in each of our homes, at teen town and Czech Hall. And I have many fond memories of the grown up Rue Donna Owens and all of the good times we have had. Kenneth Owens was the lucky man that won Rue Donna¡¯s heart. Ken and Rue Donna Owens were the perfect fit. They were so right for each other. They had two beautiful children Kenny and Brenda. Brenda, her husband and three little girls have brought a lot of Joy and Laughter to there lives. Kenny¡¯s tragic death left an empty chair in their hearts. I know how happy Rue Donna was when she found Kenny waiting for her in heaven. Every Holiday or birthday Rue Donna sent a pretty card and some little trinket that represented that occasion. Who will send the cards now? Who will fill the empty chair? Who will fill the empty spot in our hearts? I will look for your star in heaven Rue Donna.
