Subject: [ROOTS-L] Conflicting research

What I have done is to download and save separately a file found on the net.
In one case, I found a huge family tree, and even exchanged e-mails with
the author, but still saved it
to disk separately. I have been able to verify some of the entries from
church records from the Pfalz, but have
not found them all and not enough to connect to our family. I am
reasonably sure the tree is pretty good.
Also, I found another tree for the same family at another site on the net.
The second one agreed in most respects with the first, but there were a
couple of differences..

As a result, I don't enter anything in OUR family tree that I have not
been able to verify myself.
But I have made notes and even "alternate" family trees from what was
online. Maybe, someday, I will be able to tie it all
together. And maybe someday I will learn to read 19th century German
script. Maybe.

I guess, if I were in your position, I would try to isolate what came
off the net and go back to an older version of my tree.
A lot of work, but something you could be proud of.

good luck

Dan
