Hi Bobbie,

I share your concern about personal information on the web about living
relatives. However, when one sends information to the web it goes through
an ISP (Internet Service Provider) and those employees plus government law
enforcement agencies all have access to the data in each and every email
message. If the genealogy website, say a personal home page, is not
secured, then all that data is available to those scanning the Internet for
personal information; and people in Russia, Iran, China and most countries
of the world are scanning the Internet constantly.

The only true safe websites are those maintained by banks and large
corporations and the military. I'm not sure that any genealogy websites
are safe; maybe someone will clear this up.

Carl
