Subject: [ROOTS-L] sharing of information - legalities

I have been researching lately and found information on the web at different genalogical
sites for my immediate family. The information contains birth dates and places for
people who are alive today.

I have shared my family tree with many people who are related to me. I have NEVER given
anyone permission to give out my information to others in a public forum.

I hope all of you will think about this when you are placing your family history and/or
gedcom on genealogical sites. If someone has shared their genealogy with you they are
not giving you permission to publish it to the web.

There are programs that will strip the info from a genealogy database on living
individuals. We should all be using that when we give out info to others that is not
ours to share.

Genealogy.com is one example among many. Does anyone have a way of contacting them to
find out who has place information there without the permission of the original people
involved? I have searched their website but cannot find any information concerning how
to contact them to get my personal information removed from their site.

Thanks, Bobbie
