Subject: [ROOTS-L] Christening gown

I hope that I sent a "thank you" to each one that answered my plea for help
on removing super glue from a 105 year old christening gown. If I missed
someone, I am sorry, and I really appreciate all of the suggestions.

They ranged from a good quality dry cleaners, specifically one with
experience in wedding gowns, trying the acetone on a small,
hidden, section of the gown, using super glue remover, using fabric or
lace pieces that have a family history to cover the glue, to doing
nothing. Two fabric conservator sites had no idea what to do, and 1 site
still has not answered. I am still debating and torn over how to restore
the gown.

One reader suggested if I "kill" the sister-in-law, to hide the body very
well. I think if I could get a jury of genealogists, I could get off on
justifiable homicide.

Again, thank you for all of your help.

Judy Brown
