Hi Helen,

If you want to email reports in pdf format from you genealogy program
(or from anyplace else for that matter], this can be done quite easily,
providing of course, that the program you are using has the ability to
create reports in the PDF format. I believe many do.

If attaching and sending a PDF format report with an email is what you
were asking, I would first create the reports and save them on your computer
in a place where you can find them later.

Next go to your email program, address the email message to where you
want it to go, and write a quick note should you choose. However, a note is
not necessary. Do put in the subject line of the email something referring
to attachment and its subject so that the receiver of the email will
hopefully recognize it is not spam or a virus.

If using Outlook Express, click on "insert" then "file attachment", and
in the dialog box that comes up, navigate to the file you want to send and
click on "attach". You can put multiple files in one email or make separate
emails for each attachment you want to send. If more than one to be sent,
click on insert a second time, and navigate to the next file.

Once you have inserted the files, simply click to send the email. It
will take a little longer to go since the program will be sending extra
files. On a fast connection, one may not really notice this, but it will be
obvious on a dialup connection.

Sometimes before sending attachments, I write a first email informing
the receiver that I will soon be sending an attachment. If I don't get a
response to messages containing attachments, I sometimes write back and ask
if the person received it, because some people forget when they ask for
attachments they must have their email setup to receive them.

Genealogy reports in PDF format are about the easiest way to share
genealogy information. I particularly like to send pedigree charts
accompanied by an ancestor report with notes and sources when people are
looking for their ancestral direct line. People then can pick and choose
from what you send just what they want to type into their program. As they
are typing in what they need, they can check out your sources, etc. as they
use your material.
