Subject: [ROOTS-L] Re: ROOTS-L Digest V06 #81

As most of you know the David Hardee book, on my web site, is completed.
Now, it's time for a new project. The book THE CROOM FAMILY compiled by Doris
Croom Outlaw back in the '50s has been graciously donated for uploading to
the site. According to the last page in the book, it has 373 pages, but due to
Mrs. Outlaw's unique numbering system, there are actually over 500
pages---it's going to take awhile to complete the uploading. The book is a
mimeographed, privately published collection of notes, letters, handwritten charts and
theories--some proven, many not. There is no index to speak of, so you're in
for a great deal of hunting!! There is no copyright. There is much
controversy regarding accuracy, fact, sources, etc. but I think she did a great job
for the scant number of resources that were available to her. Accolades to
Mrs. Outlaw for her endeavors, and this is another genealogist from a past
generation who would have been ecstatic about our internet capabilities.
Be patient...and keep checking back.
