Subject: [ROOTS-L] Census Microfilms.
Sender: roots-in@roots-l.rootsweb.com

I believe the LDS sells census films as does the National Archives. I
thought at one point Heritage Quest sold these, but perhaps not all years in
all places. I know HQ used to sell census on cd.

I just overheard one of our local librarians talking about the prices
of these to another lady while at our local library recently. If I were
you, I might contact a few large libraries with microfilm collections of
census films and find out the going rates. Libraries might get a different
rate from individuals I wasn't paying good attention to what was being
said, but I think they indicated the individual reels were about $70 each,
but I may be way off. I remember when the 1930 census was about to be
released they were asking people to donate money to buy reels at about $38.
It may be that different years have different costs.

Below are a few links I found on Google. I don't know how old these
links are so the prices may not be correct.
