So, the question is, where did the "Tolland County" designation come from? If I were you (and I have a bunch of these), I'd enter it as "Tolland, Connecticut" It appears that Tolland was in either Hartford or Windsor county in 1756, probably Hartford. These were the counties from which Tolland was made. It would take a good map and the early county boundaries to tell exactly. This is interesting, as I realized that I had put people in with the "modern" counties -- helps me locate them, but when I write them up, I'll have to say: "she was born in (now) Windsor County, CT." Hmmm.
