Karen, By 1918 and 1930, death certificates were required to be filed. So it could be that they lived in West Orange, NJ but did not die there. Possibly ill health forced them to go and stay with a child in another town/state and actually died there. They may have died in a hospital in a different county, or even another state. Maybe if you check the locations where their children lived, then check to see if that is possibly where they died. And of course where he died 12 years later, he could have indeed died somewhere different than where his wife died. Did you find them in the 1910 census? I sent the correct form to Trenton requesting their death certificates and they told me nothing was registered with them. I did find my great grandmother. Her name was Hattie (Harriet) Dutcher Stilwell. She's buried in a cemetery (died October 18, 1918), in Orange, NJ, but she has no tomb stone. I have her birth and death date from the cemetery records, but I'm looking for her birth place. It might be in Carlton, Orleans county, New York State, but I'm not sure. If a death certificate was not filed where do I look? Her husband, William Stilwell died sometime around 1930 but I don't know which cemetery. No death certificate was filed when he died, either. How do I find him? I don't have any birth or death dates. Please Help! Karen
