Subject: [ROOTS-L] RE: Maps

Hi Everyone,
Some "Road Atlases" are better then other. I have 3 for the US and they all
differ in content. Some are better than others.

Hope this helps someone, Gretchen

When in doubt I try the following:

FOR THE US:

_http://geonames.usgs.gov/_ (http://geonames.usgs.gov/)

_Geographic Names Information System (GNIS)_ (http://geonames.usgs.gov/)

FOR OTHER COUNTRIES:
NOTE.....I use one or more of the following which give me more trouble but
it's because being from the United States I'm not that familiar with how the
name might have been originally written or is now!!

Trust me......I have about a dozen other sites for countries other than the
US.....I use them all. If one doesn't help me I try another. Eventually I
usually find what I'm looking for.
