Can't answer except for my particular situation. I had a "Very Large" photo  
of my Father's WWI Army Unit with him in it.
 
It also had been very tightly rolled since 1917.
 
I took it to a framer who did her thing. She managed to unroll, flatten and  
then she framed it. Did a gorgeous job.
