Subject: [ROOTS-L] Postings to Genealogical Sites

I appreciated Anna's and Therese's kind words in their last postings to the Roots-L list. Many times I have hated to read postings with mispelled words, all the postings in lower or upper case, or postings that do not give at least a county, state, or approximate year. I can ignore most of the forgoing things, but on another list, I have read a 287-word posting in lower case...NO PUNCTUATION! That gets to me real fast! Just because I have fairly good English and usually excellent spelling skills, I cannot and should not criticize others who can't do these skills well. We are a large group of people from varied backgrounds, with a very wide variety of skills. We are not all proficient in all areas. Some of us maybe barely made it through elementary school or high school. Some of us have some college or maybe lot of college. I don't doubt that there may be even a few holding doctorates on the list. I have known college graduates that couldn't spell worth two cen!
ts. We are on this list to help each other and share when and where we can. It's a good group, but please remember that we are not here to criticize. Who are we to judge another person's skills or lack of skills? Though I've been at my search for 36 years, I'm still learning too, especially computer skills!
