No need to apologize it is a Rootsweb digest problem.

Your name has accented characters which are not allowed in email headers. To
allow these characters they must be encoded to conform to the rules for email
and are converted to a character string that is allowed. Normally the
receiving email program decodes them and most people never see the strange
character string.

The headers of any email may only contain US ASCII characters (I.E. those
characters in the first 127 characters). Accented characters are not in those
127 allowable characters. Normal email and mailing lists but not digests send
what they receive to the destination where the receiver's email program
converts what appears to be strange characters to the necessary plain text
characters. Rootsweb digest does not convert the headers before putting them
in the digest and since they are now in the body of the email and not in the
headers of the email your email program does nothing, leaving the strange
character encoding.
