Subject: [ROOTS-L] Re: ROOTS-L Digest V06 #57

Re Why should people help.
Here is my two cents.

Like Anna from Sweden, I too am as some of you would say a foreigner.
Although my home is Puerto Rico which by the way is part of the USA I have been
living in the states for 26 years. My problem is that searching for ancestors
anywhere out of the USA becomes a little difficult. Every where you go on the
Internet they want money for something that should be in some cases for free
and some of us do not have the means for whatever our reasons. Even
Ancestry or some of the others do not have much info for out of the USA. So, in
researching thru the wonderful world of the Internet and ROOTS LIST I have come
across some wonderful people that not only where willing to help, in some
cases have turned out to be cousins just by sharing information or helping to do
out of the USA research. Now, my research thru the LDS libraries will become
more difficult as those are gone. You see, I live in KATRINA ZONE, nope not
New Orleans but the other state. So the little bit that we could rely on for
now is gone and no telling when it will all be back. As we rebuild some of us
that escaped with little or no damage, are trying to continue with a normal
life to keep sane. Genealogy is a wonderful mind occupying hobby. As far as
myself I have been doing Gen of and on ( hit BRICK WALLS) for about 10 years
now. So, yes give some of us the help we could use if you have 5 minutes. I do
it!

Thanks
Carol
