My maternal great grandmother was Georgianna Goddard, born St Michael Parish, Barbados 1843; married Henry Murphy July 15 1857 St Michael Church, Bridgetown, Barbados, died 1918, Brooklyn, NY USA. Have traced my Goddard line in Barbados back to Edward Goddard, born about 1756 to Edward Goddard and Gertrude Payne, married 28 Jan 1756 in St James Parish, Barbados. I have also traced a Goddard line in England from Johne Goderd who was living in 1532 when a court roll of Henry Pole, Lord of Montacute,records that Agnes, wife of Robert Goddard of Staple Fitzpaine "holds of the Lord" certain tenements, closes, and meadows. Descendants of this Johne Goderd included three Goddard Brothers (Nicholas, William, and Arthur) who migrated from England to Barbados in the 1640s. There is a gap in my files between the three Goddard brothers who entered Barbados in the 1640s and the 1756 marriage of Edward Goddard and Gertrude Payne. I am seeking to tie together one of the original Goddard brothers in the 1640s to the Edward Goddard who married Gertrude Payne in 1756.If anyone can help me I would gladly share any/all of the information I have on the descendants of Edward and Gertrude Payne Goddard, the most recent of which is my great grandson, James Carlyle Schmidt, born August 29, 2004
