Pontypridd is in Wales, it's most famous son (present  day) from around that 
area is Tom Jones
But It's not unusual for people abroad not knowing where it is.....
Pontypridd is now in the county of Cynon-Taff. I think that Cynon-Taff  
before that was called, Mid-Glamorgan, before that most probably just  Glamorgan of 
the Vale of Glamorgan.......
