Sherman (b. 9 Sep 1837 or 1838 in Shenandoah County, Virginia). I know his mother's first name was Sarah but nothing more on his parents. It looks like he was in Wiota, LaFayette County, Wisconsin by 17, Sept 1861 when he enlisted in the Fifth Wisconsin Light Artillery Battery. He was discharged 6 Jun 1865 at Madison Wisconsin. Michael (d. 22 Sep 1904) and his bride Martha Jane Barrington (d. 19 Mar 1901) are buried at Niobrara, Nebraska. Joe Thurstenson
