(Avants, Avance) My friends great grandfather, William Wallace Avant, b. abt. 1843, place unknown. Searching for his parents/siblings. Records found indicate that he enlisted in Jackson, MS in 1862 for the Civil War and he was also found listed as a POW in Vicksburg, MS. At the time that he enlisted for the Civil War he was living in Choctaw County, MS. My friend tells me that there are records of a H.C. Avant in the same area of MS with a son Wm. also born abt 1843 but this William is not "his" William Wallace Avant . The wife of his William Wallace Avant was a Susan Jackson and their children were Nathan Elijah, Joe Thomas, Robert and perhaps unknown others. The family stayed in the Mississippi area. Anyone know of the parents of William Wallace Avant? Appreciate any help. Lynne in Texas
