Subject: [ROOTS-L] Re: Social Security death benefits question

From: b.otoole@comcast.net

Here is my problem. My mother and father were married sometime in 1936 we
think in Vancouver, Washington. When Mother passed away, we could not find
her wedding certificate anywhere.

Since Mom collected Dad's Social Security Befefits, would the SSA have any
records of what she used as proof she married my dad?

-----
If your mother collected wife's benefits or widow's benefits on your dad's
SS account she had to have supplied proof of marriage. You can obtain
information by contacting SSA.
