She was the daughter of Samuel S. Ellison. I show that she married Harris Phifer in 1891. They had: Lena Mae Phifer - 1892 Herschell Phifer -1893 Gutherie Phifer - 1899 Johnnie Phifer - 1896 On the 1900 census they all show up except for Harris Phifer, indicating that Ellen was widowed. By the 1910 census - There is no Ellen or Gutherie. Herschell and Johnnie are living with other families noted as "charity boy". Harris Phifer was the son of Phoebe/Pheba/Pheebe Cooley/Cooly and John Phifer. He seems to drop off the face of the Earth by 1900. His real name may also be Alexander Harris Phifer.
