Both of those entities may have further information. The U.S. Coast Guard will have issued a "Mariner's Doc- ument," "Marine Officer Masters" license and a "Discharge" for each tour of duty. I'm not sure what the USCG's policy is with regard to letting you have copies. His family should have those documents among his personal effects.
