I'd like to add something to this. You may find that some of your female
relatives are/were in DAR during their lifetime. Check with your state DAR
Chairperson. If you can find the DAR application for a relative, you can
trace your lineage through there to qualify for membership in DAR. It's a
great organization! My great-aunt was a member and her application was dated
1954. Those of us who follow our relatives need to take up these causes (DAR
and SAR) so the organizations survive.

Rosemary

Revolutionary War Patriots

While there are many lists for Revolutionary War participants, everyone
should be well advised that not all persons are on the DAR or SAR rolls.
One may find them on records where one least expects to find an ancestor.
Check the signers of petitions and statements and also the petitions for
claims due to losses incurred during the war. Many widows made claims
also.

I have been trying to document descent from several patriots and get them
onto the rolls. Hard, hard job with the broken links in lineage due to
migration and burnt courthouses in several states.

If you know that your ancestor was a participant as a soldier or gave
goods and services for the cause, please document your lineage and join
the DAR or SAR so that those honorable ancestors will be recognized.
A Proud DAR. Tree Mother
