Barbara- I've been in the situation you are describing, and been contacted
by 2 different people who put postems on my rootsweb database. (Which I did
very much appreciate, as it gives people the option of contacting them about
questions. *GRIN*)

The problem I had was that both people were working on the same family, and
disagree on the parent relationship, it's an area of my tree I got from
someone else and I state that on the file (I'm now going through record by
record and cleaning up all those sourcing mistakes I made originally! LOL)
but both of these individuals have told me of 'corrections' and only one has
really supplied 'why' they believe as they do, or sources....so which do I
believe? The one who sites sources, and I'll be siting her and what sources
she told me she checked until I can check them myself.

I'm still concentrating on my direct lines and trying to document them...I
did it like the books all say, talk to family, survey what's already out
there, evaluate their sources, then check the records yourself. :) I'm
trying to get this as right as I know how, but sometimes patience is lacking
on the part of others (I can't speak for your situation and how you have
approached these people and this is NOT a reflection on you:) I'm just
speaking from my own situation.)

I'm disabled, and somedays I'm not up to doing much of anything, including
more than lurking with email :) or even turning on the computer. One of
these people apologized when I explained that I just hadn't been up to
getting to the changes yet, but that was after the 3rd email in as many days
:) I wasn't looking to make her feel guilty, just letting her know she had
been heard and I still had the information. :)

I still have the emails and they are still in my folder of changes I need to
look into and I am still going to do it. I will admit that she got ahold of
me in May, it is now August almost Sept, but I've also still got family
corrections/connections from 2004 I haven't felt up to working all the way
through :) They are still there too.

Maybe I'm unusual, but I don't think so :) I've contacted others and been
surprised when I get a message back a year later! (LOL, Yes, it did happen!)
But that was a wonderful contact that shared pictures and information and
insights about my mother-in-law's family...the woman who contacted me had
been dealing with a family crisis, so hadn't gotten back to me sooner. I
hear stories like this all the time...

I've been the impatient one, I've been the one who doesn't make corrections,
I've been the one wondering why that incorrect information is being left
there forever. :)

I guess I'm just saying to Post what you can that is correct, help where you
can, add post ems when you can *evil grin* and maybe, with time and
patience, the people who have it wrong will get it right. They don't have
your sources and your information, so if you publicize yours and list your
sources, who will be the one believed in the long run?

Take care and good luck :)
