In my case, I passed my database to a cousin several years ago with
assumptions, warts and all.  He proceeded to post it immediately and
it has now been "borrowed" by scores of people who continually advance
the wrong information.  The only bright spot is that each of these
borrowers claim the work as their own so I have had few contacts about
it.  When I do tell people the information is wrong, they argue with
me.  So, for now, I will only put my data where it is password
protected and to a few serious researchers I have the privilege of
working with..
