In the 19th century the tools of genealogy was ink and paper.
In the 20th century the tools of genealogy became ink cartridges and computers.
In the 21st century the tools of genealogy is DNA.

Hobbies evolve all the time, discussing DNA could probably be compared to discussing the various types of Census forms; how to read them, and where to get a hold of them.

Personally I have no interest in using DNA in my research, I don't use all the genealogy programs that others do, and I still do a lot of work with pen and paper...but I don't chastise those that do. I just delete the email if it doesn't pertain to me. If the last name in the subject line is of no interest I delete it too.

Once some questions on DNA are answered the discussion will revert back to Family Tree Maker problems which could easily be discussed on some software list, or Census problems that can easily be discussed on some Census lists or ancestors in North Carolina for example, which could easily be discussed on a North Carolina list.,

We all have to put up with a little something sometime. Posting DNA questions is fine by me.

Karen Prytula

Is there a Roots mail list that deals specifically with DNA? Not the
Surname DNA lists, but a general list?
