Subject: [ROOTS-L] Re: DNA test questions

I'm not sure what the single objective for posting to this list is, I
thought it was general information about genealogy, which at the
current time includes DNA testing. General rule of thumb that works
well is if the topic is not of interest, skip the message. There is no
way on a general list like this every message posted will appeal to
everyone. We should all be accommodating to each others needs in what
gets posted to this list. I hope everyone can agree with that as this
list has been very accommodating to everyone so far.

For specific details on DNA testing the Genealogy-DNA list is a good
option. There was a problem a while back on the Genealogy-DNA list
where some people felt bored when new people posted questions the more
veteran participants found basic, but that has been worked out after
much wrangling (same rule, choose what you read, don't complain about
what is posted unless it is really off base, and then complain to the
list Admin, not to the list). Now every question posted will be
answered by one or more people. If the answer would not be of interest
to the whole list, then it will likely be answered off list.

Anyone wishing information on DNA testing may e-mail me anytime. It is
likely people will not remember who I am or who Don or other people
familiar with DNA are so I certainly hope those people may continue to
post their questions to this list so they can get what they need. Best
advise to anyone before posting a general question to the list is to
search the archives first, but that is not always an option or
preference for everyone.

Hoping everyone finds what they are looking for,

John Carr
