Subject: [ROOTS-L] DNA Testing Q

All of this talk about DNA testing finally helped me
work up the nerve to ask a cousin I met online to take
the test. His brick wall ancestor and mine shared the
same surname and lived close-by. I suspect they are
related and wanted to ask my cousin and my uncle to
take the test.

If this cousin and my uncle's DNA are a match then
that would mean our brick wall ancestors were related
- but I'm not sure how closely related. Since our
ancestors were born only a few years apart and if the
DNA matches, does that mean they were brothers? Or
could they have been cousins too?

Someone was kind enough to post a URL for a place to
buy the DNA kits but I didn't save the email - does
anyone know the URL?

Since the kits will go out directly to my cousin &
uncle, when they take the test and send the kits back,
how will they be notified about the results? Will the
results be understandable or will they consist of a
bunch of numbers?

Thanks so much,
dee
